Sailing Week 2017 – Report from the Commodore.
Sailing Week at B. S. C. has been a great success this year with blue skies and westerlies blowing consistently for 5 days allowed the clubs major trophies to be raced each day. The Old Riley Plate raced from Newton to Beadnell was a thrilling race after a dramatic start watched by the picnickers on the beach. The Club lunches and mid morning coffee through the week were a welcome break from activities. The other social activities included a bonfire , quiz night and a film night at the club all created a great atmosphere in the club.
The Regatta Cup was competed for on Saturday the 5th August in light winds, the occasional shower did not dampen the sailors enthusiasm and was won by Richard Benson. The week ended with prize giving, the commissioning of the new notice board in memory of Neville and Margaret Forster, a fancy dress parade of cadets and older members and a splendid BBQ was attended by 70 people.
Thanks to all who have helped make this happen. The club has much to be proud of.
