The Club is a mixture of dinghy and small boat sailors who sail or race mainly at weekends. Cruising yacht sailors can explore the many harbours and anchorages accessible from Beadnell including Newton, Craster, Holy Island, Berwick often with two or three other yachts, “Cruising in company”. Come and explore the interesting challenges presented by the tidal effects around the Farnes.
BSC has an active social scene for all ages fostering lasting friendships. Sunday morning coffee is a must in the sailing season. Many events are catered for by members in the club house. Evening socials are BYOB. The “RNLI Day”, a fund raiser for the local lifeboat is in August. Newer events include the End of Season Party in September. The Winter Gathering in February helps members keep in touch when there is less sailing.
BSC has an active Cadet section which includes a wide range of sailing experience. We welcome new members and their parents. Less confident sailors are encouraged to use the sheltered waters of the bay. More confident sailors may sail and race further afield. In Sailing Week in late July early August instruction and drills are used to develop confidence and skills. The club is affiliated to the RYA.
